On Friday 29th of March, 2019 we selected 20 Learners to take part in a STEM experience at Alton Towers

This trip was funded as part of an innovation award that was won through Aspire to HE and the University of Wolverhampton. The day involved a few hours of free time, where Learners could go around the park and whilst adhering to school rules, time management and lunch; experience the rides available.  After lunch we were treated to a classroom session where the trainer talked us through jobs, careers and opportunities available behind the scenes.  This was broken up with practical sessions on how to build a rollercoaster.  Criteria was set and some examples were given and the end result was tested with a marble.

Following the trip learners reported they had increased motivation towards school/Self-confidence/thinking about careers and knowledge of higher education.
