Dudley MAT meeting – Friday 26th January 2018

The first meeting with Learners at all schools in the Dudley Multi Academy Trust since the creation of the MAT was hosted at Hillcrest. Although it was only a brief meeting, the morning session proved to be invaluable and an insightful and innovative way of exploring the other schools’ Leadership Roles.

After an inspirational talk from the CEO of the Dudley MAT, all schools were split up across different groups and we all got to know each other, participating in a range of teamwork activities. I personally found it interesting to hear about the Leadership programmes offered at the other schools.

We were then toured around Hillcrest, viewing not only their work environment but also the subjects they prided most. For Hillcrest, these subjects were mostly creative art based, where all Learners seemed to show a certain passion for art, drama, dance and music. During this tour, we discussed the strengths and weaknesses of our schools (and it would seem that Beacon Hill Academy by far provides the best food)!

Finally, we collectively discussed what our vision was for the Dudley MAT and what we, as Learners, believed the trust should stand for. Our final, agreed opinion was that we are “stronger together”. During this activity, we also explored ways which we could bring all four schools together with, for example, an Inter-School Sports Day. We all agreed that in the near future, the four schools in the Dudley MAT should feel like they are part of a community.

Overall, we all found this meeting both productive and useful and we look forward to our next meeting.
