Edwin Holden’s Bottling Co

Established in 1943 Edwin Holden’s Bottling Co is a family owned and run contract packaging business located in Woodsetton. Since its incorporation the Company has continued to serve the beer cider and soft drink industries seeing large growth in the last 4 years with the expansion of the UK craft beer market. The company currently employs 24 staff members, the majority of whom are local to the area of Woodsetton and many have come to work for the business from Beacon Hill Academy.

The Company has been delighted to re-establish its links with Beacon Hill Academy with the creation of a Work related Learning programme for a HAS student. The placement is for three days per week between 0900 and 1300. While offering a great deal for the student, the company is only too pleased to be able to give something back to the school and the local community.

Through the placement we fundamentally aim to give someone an opportunity they would not have previously had. We hope to inspire and focus the student to successfully conclude their education while providing them with the opportunity to learn new skills, at the same time providing a taster of the working environment and an insight into what opportunities there may be in the working world.

Since starting his placement Callum has been able to experience and join in a practical role within the company as if he was a full time employee. He has acquitted himself extremely well and has proved very reliable with attendance and time keeping. He has learnt the values of working as part of a production team and has taken his responsibilities within the organisation very seriously. It has also given him the opportunity to meet and work with people he would not have previously met. In light of the success of the current placement the company would be delighted to further its relationship with HAS. The company would like to offer another work experience placement for the 2016-17 academic year. The Company will also be open to discussion for other initiatives that may be of mutual benefit to HAS, the Company and the local community.
