Since 2010, Beacon Hill Academy and the Academy of English in Oldenburg, Germany have created a strong international educational partnership based on Learner exchanges, an international work experience and Teaching Assistants’ programme.

Each year, Learners from the Academy of English in Oldenburg, Germany visit Beacon Hill Academy and take part in school life. In doing so, the German Learners get to practice their English skills, whilst local Learners come into contact with their German peers.

Learners from Beacon Hill Academy have also visited Germany for their work experience placements, giving them the opportunity to gain international experience in local institutions in and around Oldenburg.

The Academy of English has also facilitated the exchange of Teaching Assistants (TAs) from Germany to Beacon Hill Academy. German teacher trainees have been deployed in the English Department, PEARS as well as the AS Base, giving them international insights into the English education system.

To mark the centenary of the First World War, Beacon Hill Academy and the Academy of English have organized a range of Remembrance and Reconciliation events to recall the common historical bonds between Germany and Great Britain. This innovative collaboration reflecting on Anglo-German history has been singled out in (2015) as well as on BBC radio and in the local press.
