Attendance

At Beacon Hill Academy, we have two Attendance Officers who are constantly monitoring attendance and punctuality throughout the school year.

On a day to day basis, our Attendance Officer will be monitoring our registers to see which learners are missing and then call home to find out why. This is an important safeguarding procedure.

At the same time, our Senior Attendance Officer will be meeting with parents and carers of children who have persistent absences. These absences may be because of a health issue, or they may be behaviour related. Regardless, the Senior Attendance Officer will work with both the parent/carers and the learner to put a plan in place that will enable them to attend school in a way that is beneficial to them and their education. This may be starting the EHCP process, trialling a reduced timetable or other practices to try and ease your child's experience and improve their attendance. After all, every day lost puts them at a disadvantage to everyone else in the country.

Our Attendance Policy can be downloaded from our Policies & Documents page.
