To help our Year 11 learners with their revision, we are running a number of Enrichment Sessions during half term which learners can choose to attend if they wish.

These sessions will focus on a number of things such as subject knowledge and exam technique and are an invaluable opportunity for our learners to receive extra support from our subject specialists.

Beacon Hill Academy is on a mission to develop an inspirational school that instils ambition and desire in its

The marked rise in the proportion of learners achieving Grade 5 or higher in both English and mathematics is a very good indicator of the advances made across the academy.

Having made significant improvements to every aspect of academy life and performance over the last three years, the Senior Management Team at Beacon Hill is determined to ensure that the academy continues to go from strength to strength.

Staff want learners to enjoy their time at the academy, to feel safe, to feel supported and to make excellent progress as a result. There is a passionate belief that every young person matters and that every learner has a wide array of talents that must be identified and nurtured.

This is an academy with a mission to give each individual learner a choice of ways forward in life. It runs a wide range of programmes focusing on careers, leadership, volunteering, personal and social responsibility, confidence building and personal development.

Recently, learners have participated in public speaking and poetry recitation competitions, full-scale dramas, musicals, dance, STEM competitions, entrepreneurship competitions and a broad range of extra-curricular clubs, teams and activities.

Learners are able to participate in additional activities including engineering, art, science, dance, the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and a variety of sports.

Beacon Hill Academy offers a rounded education that will open young people’s eyes to the opportunities available in the wider world if they study hard and give themselves something to aim for.

Re: GCSE Results Day Arrangements

Not only did Ellie-Mai create a product, but she also created an entire product line! Miss Vickers who marked Ellie-Mai's work said "it was a great piece of work to mark on my last day - I have left with a big smile on my face!"

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Monday 5th July 2021, learners in Year 8, 9 & 10 will be having their school photos taken. These will be individual portraits that will be available for purchase directly from the photographers. Proofs of the images will be available via a link which will be sent to you via the email address and/or mobile number we have on record for you.

While we appreciate that this is short notice, we have been working hard to organise the complicated logistics of this on the only date which the photographers had available, around our Year 10 mock exams, Year 7/8 GL Assessments and sports day.

Current year 7 learners will have their photos taken in September alongside those learners who will be joining us in September from primary school.

On Monday, learners should go to their form rooms and usual and their tutors will explain the plans for the day.

To inspire you – and to celebrate World Book Day on 4^th March – why not take part in Beacon Hill’s very own ‘The Masked Reader’? 

Hiding behind the masks are five members of staff who talk about their favourite books and why they love them. All you need to do is watch the video and work out who is behind each mask and what book they are talking about. Then send your entry to wbd@beaconhillacademy.org.uk. There is a £10 on-line book voucher up for grabs for the winner from each year group...so what book will you choose?

This week, our MFL Department have been really impressed with our Year 7 learners' wanted posters - not only did these demonstrate a good ability at foreign language, but they looked amazing, too!

We have individual achievements, Wellbeing Wednesday activities and your amazing creations from 'Cooking with Miss Lloyd'!

As you are aware learners at Beacon Hill Academy have access to a rich curriculum which enables them to make informed choices and prepare for the future. As part of this broad and balanced approach, learners take part in a number of Drop-Down Days throughout the year. These opportunities are crucial to helping us fulfil our mission to achieve excellence and create an aspirant culture through values driven education.

Our Curriculum Team Leaders and the teachers within each subject are extremely pleased with how much effort you are putting into your learning and the quality of what you are producing - keep it up!
