At Beacon Hill Academy, and all other UK schools, learners will sit their GCSE exams at the end of Year 11. These exams are written and marked by external exam boards, and the content within these exams is designed to test learners on what they have learnt over their GCSE study period - at Beacon Hill, this period is Years 9-11.

In addition to this, learners in Year 10 will have several mock exams during the year which will not only allow them to experience what a GCSE exam feels like and what they need to do, but it also gives our teachers an in-depth understanding and overview of what each learner is struggling with, and classes as a whole. In turn, this then allows our teachers to tailor certain lessons moving forwards to help both individuals and groups with the areas they underperformed on during these mocks.
